Pamela Thorsch
Francisco Murillo |
|
OUR STAFF Pamela Thorsch has been the executive director of Rebuilding Together San Diego since December of 2003. Under her leadership the organization expanded from a one-day a year event in April to a multi-faceted year round program. Over the course of her tenure, she has taken a struggling non-profit that had only $3,000 in the bank to raising over $1.5 million in funds and assets. It is because of her vision and passion for her work, Pamela has been able to develop community partnerships that have dramatically raised the exposure of RTSD, which in turn has provided more opportunities for the organization to increase its ability to reach out and help those less fortunate in our community. Ms. Thorsch has a background in community relations, real estate, government and public affairs. With over twenty-five years of experience in management, marketing, fundraising and event coordination she has received local, national and international recognition for her work. Working tirelessly for the betterment of our community, Ms. Thorsch has found additional ways to serve. In 2008 she was appointed to the City of San Diego’s International Affairs Board by Mayor Sanders, and was Honoree of S.D. Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” Award. She sits on the S.D. Health Collaborative for Critically Ill Children, is a member of the S.D. Fall Prevention Task Force, the S.D. Chamber of Commerce, the S.D. Housing Federation, the Citizens Diplomacy Council, served as the board secretary for the NFL Alumni-San Diego Chapter in 07 & 08, and is CERT trained with the S.D. Fire-Rescue Department. It has also been her honor to serve as a BBB Torch Awards judge annually since 2007 and was on the selection committee for the 2006 Orchids and Onions Awards
Francisco Murillo brings many skills and expertise to RTSD. As our Projects Renovation Coordinator, he is responsible for heading up the Safe at Home Program, which provides the “honey-do” list of minor home repairs that can be accomplished in a couple of hours for qualifying applicants. With his great organizational skills Francisco also is responsible for prepping for our renovation projects, keeps the material/supplies inventory and works side by side with the volunteers on specific projects utilizing his handyman skills. With a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California in Tijuana, Mexico, Francisco has applied his knowledge as a group facilitator, social researcher and therapist into performing the initial project site evaluations. He shares his love and interest in human development in every RTSD undertaking. “I have witnessed the growth of RTSD over the past four years, and am very blessed to be part of the work that has helped so many of our neighbors in San Diego” states Francisco, who we affectionately refer to as “the man of the house”. |
