Keeping homes safe and lives independent

When people come together in the name of good deeds, making a difference can happen in a big way. This is the hope and goal of Rebuilding Together San Diego as we partner with the Mountain Shadows Foundation, to make a good thing even better with a newly developed Adopt-a-House program to benefit the residential care facility that is home to 117 men and women with developmental disabilities. A large number of the residents suffer from cerebral palsy, downs syndrome and other brain injuries, many who have been rejected by their families. Mountain Shadows and its staff, tries to fill this gab by creating a home environment for the individuals they serve.

Due to budget cuts, Mountain Shadows is challenged with caring for its residents, sustaining their programs and keeping up the maintenance on (18) group homes located in Escondido and San Marcos.

With a sponsorship commitment of $5,000 you can ensure that one of these homes will have a safe home environment for the year. Volunteers can participate too – from the hands-on renovation work to becoming a friend to one of the residents.

The programs wish list includes:

  • patio cover upgrades
  • lighting fixtures
  • new flooring furniture
  • landscaping
  • repair doorjambs and walls
  • kitchen facelifts
  • new kitchen appliances
