RTSD Youth Program

Rebuilding Together San Diego is committed to involving local students in its work of rehabilitating low-income homes and other non-profit facilities. The Youth Services Program (YSP) seeks to help build better futures for the youth of San Diego County by providing them with hands-on ways to participate in improving neighborhoods in the community.

Through diverse volunteer positions, students learn about the non profit-sector, gain an understanding of the importance of serving their communities and develop team work skills outside the classroom.

Youths must be a minimum of 16 years old to participate in any of our programs. Community Service Credit Available.

Our Children's Tile Program

RTSD launched a children's tile program in 2005.

Students from Perkins Elementary painted these tiles that will be installed on the outside of Barrio Logan Fire Station #7With financial support, selected classes in K-12 schools located in low-income districts will participate in painting ceramic tiles designed with a theme reflecting community services, such as our fire or police departments working with local artists and volunteers.

In a joint community partnership effort, the agencies will conduct an educational presentation to the students on their work in the community, which in turn strengthens the agency's relationship through communication, education and understanding.

Students from Perkins Elementary painted these tiles that will be installed on the outside of Barrio Logan Fire Station #7The students will translate this encounter to an artistic expression on tile highlighting and depicting their impressions of theexperience.

The tiles will then be installed on a designated building within the community as a public work of art under the direction of an artist who will oversee this project, instruct the students, design the artwork that encompasses the children’s work and the installation.

Our intent is to revitalize and beautify low-income neighborhoods, while providing cultural stimulation in areas of town instilling community pride.
